Guadalajara, Jalisco, November 16, 2021.- The WTA and WTA Charities launched its third annual ACEing Cancer campaign in early October, to help improve the health and well-being of women by raising funds for the fight against the disease in women.

During the AKRON WTA Finals, each ace of both the singles and doubles players, have contributed to this noble cause. The aces were converted into money that was donated to the Cruz Rosa de Guadalajara, a charity that helps women diagnosed with cancer and their families and to support the research focused on women’s cancer, honoring Jana Novotna, Hall of Fame player.

At the conclusion of the round robin phase, $20,000 was raised by the “Aces,” of which 10,000 were contributed by WTA Charities and 10,000 by AKRON, the official sponsor of the tournament.

This Wednesday the delivery of the official check will be made to the institution. The ACEing Cancer campaign started in 2019 and the first fundraiser was dedicated in memory of former tennis player Elena Baltacha, who lost her battle against the disease in 2014, at the age of 30.

The WTA will select at the end of the year an institution that will benefit from the research scholarship, at the end of the fundraising campaign.
