Guadalajara, Jalisco, November 15, 2021.- Giuliana Olmos arrived at AKRON WTA Finals with the intention of enjoying the experience of playing against the best doubles players in the world. Tonight, alongside the Canadian Sharon Fichman, Olmos seeks to have her best performance. The Mexican is playing for a historic victory that would place her in the semifinals.

His opponents in the third round robin match of the El Tajín group will be Su-Wei Hsieh of Taipei and Elise Mertens of Belgium. Although they lost their first two matches, Olmos and Fichman will advance if they manage to beat their rivals in two sets and if the other match of their group the Czechs Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova defeat Alexa Guarachi and Desirae Krawczyk.

Faced with the pressure, the Mexican cannot afford to skip a beat this Monday; if she does, it would cost her the tournament. Giuliana and Sharon have already defeated their opponents in the tournament in Rome, where they ended up winning the title. At that tournament, Hsieh and Mertens were the first seeds, but Olmos and Fichman eliminated them in the second round, in three sets 1-6, 6-4, 10-4.

Hsieh and Mertens are 20-7 this season and won the titles in Wimbledon and Indian Wells. Giuliana and Sharon are 18-12 this season.

Krejcikova and Siniakova, the No.1 seeded team have already advanced to the semifinals and will finish at the top of the group with a win, or if they lose and Hsieh-Mertens defeat Olmos-Fichman. Hsieh-Mertens would advance if they win or if they lose in three sets and Krejcikova and Siniakova win. In the case of Guarachi and Krawczyk, they would be in the semifinals with a win combined with the defeat of the Mexican and Canadian.
